Little Penguins of Madagascar things

Good Evening Fanguins, I have good news!It looks like the Penguins of Madagascar movie has been bumped up to Thanksgiving 2014! (instead of some date in 2015) In fact, the press release says PoM has swapped dates with the other new movie, “Home” which will now be released in March, 2015.

Why?

Well, there are a few options. The most likely is Home was not quite ready and could use a few extra months of work.  Penguins, however, was practically done - and with the mostly Voice Actor cast, a LOT cheaper to produce- and it made more sense for Dreamworks to swap the dates.  On the flip side, it might not be quite as polished as the March date.  But, still, PENGUINS!Also, look at the spiffy new logo we got!

Now, the main thing to see is if they will use the movie or the TV show models.  The Movie models are of higher quality, but the TV show models have more personality, especially with Rico.

Expect more news to come shortly.  Especially a trailer within the next few weeks.  The promo time has been dramatically shortened.  Guardians of the Galaxy, which comes out in August, already has 2 trailers.

Do TMNT 2012 and Penguins of Madagascar share a universe?

Your opinions yes or no, and what would happen if they did.

A note about the movie

When Benedict Cumberbatch was announced for the Penguins movie, I realized something very important.

Our four main actors are Voice Actors. And there hasn’t been a movie in YEARS with one VA in a main role, let alone four.

The last one I can think of is “The Princess and the Frog” where Jim Cummings played Ray the Cajun Firefly. ((Before you roll your eyes, please note he’s lived in New Orleans for years, is a skilled imitator, and has worked with cajun people on the docks for years.  He beat out a few “Named” actors for the role, so it’s big))

But for Penguins, we have

Tom McGrath: who while he’s mostly a director/producer, he’s done a few dreamworks occasional voices and, well, he’s Skipper.

Jeff Bennett: Mr. Smee, the Summerween Trickster, Red Tornado, the Joker, Johnny Bravo… and Kowalski.

John DiMaggio: Bender, Jake, Manly Dan, Aquaman, Marcus Fenix … and Rico.

James Patrick Stuart: Xigbar/Braig, Steve Trevor, Private McGregor, and admittedly a lot of Live Action appearances, but nothing really other than “Dick Roman” on Supernatural and he’s done a lot of background voices on video games.  He’s also Private. ((And they’ve missed a GOLDEN opportunity for a Xigbar/Private joke))

The point I’m making is, Dreamworks must have faith in this property because they are not only making it on The Penguins, but most of these people won’t be stopped on the street anytime soon.  JPS is the closest, because of his work on “All My Children”  and “Supernatural” but even so, they can’t sell it on HIS name.

We need to support it, for the VA’s. To get them work in movies.  Because this? Is actually pretty big.

Actually never been to it.  I’m still in the fandom, but it’s quiet for me right now.  Sorry.

Commentary update

I’ve been talking to Bob Schooley. All DVD releases are don through Dreamworks, not Nickelodeon (which I should have realized due to the clip that opens each DVD) so if we were to work on it, it would be through Dreamworks animation. I just tweeted them but I don’t expect a response.

Other things I don’t know include HOW to talk to them and at least how many of us should.

What I do know is it will require more then us Fanguins to do it.

We’ll need help from Kung Fu Panda and How to Train Your Dragon. Remind them that they could get commentary too. We’ll need to focus it on a day. Maybe Octber 30th?

And, keep in mind, while it is unlikely to happen, it is always worth a shot.

If you have any ideas, contact me either here or on my personal (haveievermentioned) Maybe we could send physical art or something.

Either way, spread this around, talk to people, and let’s see what could happen!

Hello Fanguins!  Two bits of news and a request.

1) Walmart has the list of episodes for Operation: Antartica up. It’s a good set.The episodes are:  “Operation: Antarctica”, “The Penguiner Takes All”, “Roger Dodger”, “Snakehead!”, “Concrete Jungle Survival” and “Work Order”.

2) I was talking to a Bob Schooley (er, apparently there’s two and both are legit) on Twitter last night.  After hearing about MLP getting audio commentaries and watching some on my First Doctor DVD, I asked if Penguins was going to get any.  He responded that, while it is feasible to accomplish, it is unlikely since the set is aimed for children who wouldn’t be interested in that sort of thing.

I was wondering if maybe we could ask Nick to start putting on commentaries.  Why are we asking Nick?  Because as much as we want commentaries, I think the Avatar people would like them more, and they are bigger then us Fanguins.  If we can recruit them we should have more influence.  So, start spreading it around if you want commentaries for NICKELODEON shows, such as Penguins of Madagascar, The Legend of Korra and iCarly, etc.

3) According to the other Bob Schooley, Penguins episodes will start reairing in November every Saturday at Noon (presumably Eastern time).  While this doesn’t count out suddenly changing the schedule like last time, it does give us a date.

pomnews:

Heyo fellow Fanguins! So, I’ve been kinda busy with life and whatnot so I feel bad for missing this but this is another thing from Bob Schooley’s twitter page. I’m assuming that when Bob says, “Good Catch” that this person is correct with their presumption as to who voices Doris in the special, “The Penguin Who Loved Me.” According to imdb.com, Calista Flockhart will play Doris, and Ty Burrell will play Parker (Aka. Swagapus x’D) I set a click-though link to the imdb website :) Have a great week everyone!
